Estimadas familias,

School Planning Engagement – 2023-24 SchoolYear

Feedback from families helps inform decisions related to school planning, which includes the School Development Plan, school budget and school fees. Feedback will be considered along with fiscal realities, student learning results and other relevant data.

Our School Development Plan outlines how student learning will be improved over time. The plan is updated each year based on various data sets. This year, we continue to work towards goals in the following focus areas:

  • Bilingual reading for cross-curricular learning
    • Gr. K-2: focus on foundational reading development which includes phonological awareness and fluency
    • Gr. 3-5: focus on fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension (making connections)
  • Number sense and procedural fluency
    • Productive struggle, visible thinking, number talks/charlas numéricas, efficient strategies, open-ended problem-solving
  • Wellbeing- Students’ understanding of their feelings and their impact on learning and relationships with others.
    • Mindfulness tools, co-regulation strategies, calming corners, sharing circles, learning self-regulation, conflict resolution, positive relationships

The school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan and other supports for student learning. This year our allocation was $2,528,920, of which

$2,421,432 covered staffing costs. School fees are necessary when costs for services and activities exceed available funds. Fees can be applied for in-school experiences or field trips.

You can learn more about our SDP, budget, and fees by visiting our website: https://eugenecoste.cbe.ab.ca/school-planning-engagement.aspx

Here you will find links to our presentation and a survey to capture your feedback.

¡Muchas graciaspor su colaboración

Student-led Conferences – March 14 (4:30pm – 8:15pm)

We are pleased to invite all families to join us for Student-led Conferences on March

14. This is a great opportunity for you to experience your child’s learning in a way that celebrates their voice and allows you to see firsthand how they access tools or resources in their environment.

Families are invited to visit their child’s classroom during one of 5 evening blocks which you will be able to book through our usual conference management system. We ask that families honor the time they have reserved so that we can ensure equitable access to each classroom throughout the evening. As you will be sharing the space with several other families, this is not intended to be a time to connect with the teacher about complex concerns. Please reach out for a separate phone call or meeting if you have concerns that require attention.

REMINDER - Intent to Return

Planning for the next school year has already started and an important factor is knowing who will be joining/continuing with the EugeneCoste community next year. Survey links have been mailed to all families. We thank you for taking the time to provide your input- it will take less than 2 minutes!
