Estimadas familias,

Thank you for joining us for our Winter Celebration!  Your presence, warmth and enthusiasm made the show truly memorable. It was a joy to gather together and celebrate the rich rhythms and traditions of Latin dance as part of our school’s cultural learning. Students from Kinder to Grade 5 were excited to share their learning and provide a taste for merengue, cha-cha, salsa, and reggaeton. Your participation helped create a lively, community-filled atmosphere where everyone could connect, learn and celebrate.  

 A special thank-you to our School Enrichment Society whose support and commitment to enhancing student experiences at school made it possible to have Havana Dance Club collaboration. Events like this remind us how strong our Eugene Coste community is – Gracias por celebrar con nosotros! 

 For our last week before winter break, we are excited to kick off Spirit Week at ECS, starting with Twin Day on Monday (see side bar). We can’t wait to see the creativity and enthusiasm our students bring as we celebrate school spirit all week long.  

 Please note that ECS has blue days, that means that when the weather is below minus 20 degrees Celsius students stay indoors. We also deploy supervisors at 8:55 to the doors to open them so students come directly to class. Our patrols are also kept in doors at those temperatures. 

 We seek your support, our office is overwhelmed at the end of the day with the volume of calls requesting students to either not take the bus, not go home and wait in the office or some alternate plan that was not communicated ahead of time. We ask that all those be communicated before 3 pm due to the sheer number of students we have at our school. Your collaboration is appreciated not only by the Admin. team but also by teachers who are having their class instruction interrupted.

School Council and Enrichment Society Updates 

School Council is hosting a Staff Appreciation Luncheon for all Eugene Coste Staff on Dec 19, 2025. With so many wonderful families with different backgrounds in our school community, our theme is “Around the World”. We are excited for an array of ethnic foods provided by the parents of Eugene Coste.

 We are looking for volunteers to provide food, set up, clean up and assist with the event throughout the afternoon.

Fun Lunches 

Fun lunches are offered throughout the year to students who wish to participate.  We receive our lunches through Healthy Hunger, an online platform that delivers pre-ordered lunches to the school in which a portion of the proceeds goes to the school.  

On the day of the event, lunches are sorted and delivered to your child’s classroom by parent volunteers.  If you would like to participate, please register your child at www.healthyhunger.ca . Lunches must be ordered prior to midnight, 5 days before the fun lunch event.   

 We kindly ask that if your child is absent the day of the fun lunch, please contact the school prior to 10:30am, if you wish to pick it up the same day, after 1:30pm. If not specified, your food will be donated to someone in need of lunch. No refunds will be issued if your child is absent on the day of a Fun Lunch.
