Estimadas familias,

Yesterday, our hallways filled with students and staff to say “adios” to our beloved Facility Operator, Sr. Warley. When I reflect on what makes a school feel special, it is when every single adult in the building puts students and learning first. Sr. Warley made time to connect with our students. He knew their names, he provided encouragement and he also helped us to educate through occasional “community service” tasks that were needed as a reparation for a poor choice. Every year, Sr. Warley used modeling provided by our assigned Physical Therapists to redesign movement courses in the hallway using floor tape. Sr. Warley noticed what was important and collaborated with us to support students. He will be greatly missed! We are also happy for him as he continues to grow his own career in the CBE, which is encouraged for every one of us.

AMA School Safety Patrollers are coming to Escuela Eugene Coste!

We have a very keen group of grade 5 students who are going to begin their training to become School Safety Patrollers. We are proud to provide this leadership opportunity to our students and to participate in this legacy program! Did you know that Sra. Riquelme was a patrol “Captain” and that Sra. Gray was also a proud patroller? There must be other alumni among our parent community as well! Introducing this program is a continuation of our yearlong residency with Everactive Schools where last year’s grade 4 students and teachers learned about traffic issues around the school and steps that can be taken to improve them. We decided to explore if introducing the School Safety Patrol program would work for our community.

We have designated one crosswalk that will be supervised by School Safety Patrollers and a teacher supervisor. This is the crosswalk that crosses 96th Avenue to the corner of our school property. We will send a school-wide notice before the first day of patroller service so you know to expect them as part of our school routine. Patrollers will be out each morning and afternoon, unless there is extreme weather.

Eugene Coste Casino - November 10 & 11, 2024

We are thrilled to be gearing up for our AGLC Casino supporting Eugene Coste! All Eugene Coste casino volunteers make a tremendous difference. Just think what a difference one day of your time can make for all the children of our school community!

·         Volunteers may sign up for both days, but it must be the same position for each day.

·         All volunteers will be trained on site during their shift.
