Fun at Eugene Coste School

Our students enjoyed a wonderful Costume Parade today! It was a joy to see the creativity and originality of so many costumes and to learn about the characters, books, movies, and interests that inspire our students. Thank you to our Physical Education and Wellness Committee for proposing this and for helping make this a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

Cultural Learning at Eugene Coste School

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Sra. Kelsie's Grade 1 students for sharing their learning about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico. Through their presentations and classroom activities, students helped our school community learn about this cultural tradition.

We value opportunities to learn about the various cultures and traditions represented in the Spanish-speaking world. Thank you, Grade 1 students, for being wonderful teachers and helping us deepen our understanding of this meaningful celebration.

Alberta Education Early Years Assessments

The Alberta Education Early Years Assessment results have now been sent home. If your child was absent during the assessment period, they will not have results available at this time. The next assessment cycle will take place in January.

If you have questions regarding your child's results, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Our Grade 4 students are preparing to host our upcoming Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 10 at 10:30 AM. We are proud of the leadership and respect they bring to this important event as we honour the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces.

Students who are members of community organizations such as Scouts, Guides, Cadets, or other recognized youth groups are welcome to wear their colour guard or ceremonial attire if they wish.

Celebrating Student Voice and School Pride

We believe student voice plays an important role in making our school an even better place to learn and grow. This month, one of our student-led ideas became a reality with the introduction of the "La Escoba Dorada" (Golden Broom) Award. Congratulations to Sra. Salamanca's Grade 2 class and Sra. Craig's Grade 4 class, our first recipients of the Golden Broom Award! These classes have demonstrated outstanding commitment to organization, cleanliness, and taking pride in our shared learning spaces.Sr. Ramil and Sra. Eden our facility operators would like to thank students for their efforts in supporting our EcoSchool initiatives and for showing responsibility by helping to keep our school clean and tidy. Small actions make a big difference, and we are proud of the leadership and citizenship our students are demonstrating every day.

Digital Citizenship & Our School Learning Plan

At our school, fostering responsible digital citizenship is an important part of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. In alignment with Calgary Board of Education expectations, students are regularly engaged in learning about appropriate online behaviour, digital safety, respectful communication, privacy, and responsible use of technology. We appreciate families reinforcing these important skills at home as we work together to prepare students to be thoughtful and responsible digital citizens.

We would also like to share that our 2026-2027 Digital Citizenship Plan is now posted on our school website for your reference. This plan reflects our ongoing commitment to student success and incorporates feedback and considerations gathered through the Away for the Day, which supports balanced technology use and meaningful engagement in learning. We encourage families to review the plan and learn more about our goals and priorities for the coming year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a positive, caring, and environmentally responsible school community.

Con aprecio,
Carmen
