Estimada Comunidad de Eugene Coste School,

Over the past several weeks, our students have had the joy of working with Mr. Stockton, a gifted storyteller who brought creativity, imagination, and confidence to every classroom he visited. Through his engaging workshops, students learned how to:

·         Build a compelling beginning, middle, and end

·         Use voice, pacing, and expression to bring characters to life

·         Add descriptive details that paint vivid pictures for listeners

·         Take risks, revise ideas, and share stories with pride

·         Learn tricks to make the oral telling easier

·         Imagine bringing a story to life

Our hallways have been buzzing with imaginative tales, brave performances, and students eager to showcase their new storytelling skills. We are incredibly proud of the creativity and enthusiasm students demonstrated throughout this residency. We are also very proud of our teachers who supported the oral storytelling in their classes and encouraged students to share their ideas.

Our storytelling residency is made possible thanks to the Eugene Coste School Council and Enrichment Society. Their thoughtful planning, early coordination, and dedicated fundraising ensure our students have access to meaningful, memorable opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and partnership. Thank you, families, for your continued engagement and for cheering on our students as they learn, grow, and shine.  Please note below that elections for a new council will be held in May, know your involvement keeps our programs vivid and engaging.

Schools in the CBE are beginning to plan for next year, during our May Council meeting we will be able to share some information and plans for next year. Your presence at this meeting will help us make the best possible decisions for next year.

We also thank our Middle School Partners at Robert Warren School for inviting our grade 5 students to participate in the Science Fair Learning experience. We heard many good stories from our students who came back excited to make the next step into Middle School soon.

We are excited to share that swimming is coming up soon for our students. This is always a highlight of the year and an important opportunity for students to build confidence and safety skills in the water.

Con gratitud,

Carmen

Fun Lunches

Fun lunches are offered throughout the year to students who wish to participate. We receive our lunches through Healthy Hunger, an online platform that delivers pre-ordered lunches to the school in which a portion of the proceeds goes to the school.

On the day of the event, lunches are sorted and delivered to your child’s classroom by parent volunteers. If you would like to participate, please register your child at www.healthyhunger.ca . Lunches must be ordered prior to midnight, 5 days before the fun lunch event.

We kindly ask that if your child is absent the day of the fun lunch, please contact the school prior to 10:30am, if you wish to pick it up the same day, after 1:30pm. If not specified, your food will be donated to someone in need of lunch. No refunds will be issued if your child is absent on the day of a Fun Lunch.
