We have already had a full house of teachers in and out of their classrooms over the past few weeks as they prepare for our students’ return. On August 27th, all families received a welcome and introduction email from their child's teacher. If you have not received an email at the email address you have provided in your MyCBE account, please contact the main office at EugeneCoste@cbe.ab.ca  with the subject line "teacher email".

First Day of School!

September 2nd is the first day back for students. On the first day of school, students are asked to go to their designated door to find their teachers starting at 8:55 AM. Please see the map below for grade locations. Grade numbers and teacher names will be posted for easy identification with a sign. We thank you for your cooperation in saying your good-byes outside the school before teachers take their students into class.

School Hours

We'd kindly remind all families that our school hours have changed this year. Please refer to our webpage for further information on start and end times.  Soft entry means students begin entry at 9:05 and Instruction begins at 9:10 AM at which time the entry doors are closed and students are expected to enter through the front door to receive a “welcome back” slip at the office before going to their class.

What to Bring To School

  • School supplies: families pay a $40 fee through their MyCBE account, and students are provided with all necessary school supplies from the school
  • Indoor shoes: one pair suitable for the gym that will remain at school
  • Backpack: brought to school daily with enough room to hold a lunch kit, water bottle, extra change of clothes, and a library book
  • pack snacks that are:
    • quick and easy to eat for an energy boost
    • healthy and nutritious
    • minimal in packaging to reduce waste
    • easy for your child to open
  • pack a lunch in a separate container from snack
  • avoid sending food items that contain peanuts or nuts as there are students in the school with severe peanut/nut allergies
  • send a water bottle that is clearly labeled with their name and taken home daily for cleaning and filling
  • students cannot have drinks other than water during instructional time ie. No hot chocolate, juice, pop.
  • ensure students are prepared for the day with a balanced, filling breakfast before arriving at school.
  • We kindly ask that students refrain from bringing personal items to school as these are often lost, misplaced or create disruption.
  • Student Personal Mobile Devices fall under our system-wide “away for the day” policy.

Entry, Dismissal and Parking

Please follow all signage for a safer student drop-off and pick-up. The front of the school zone is intended for busses and in front of the busses is the “Hug and Go” for a quick drop-off and pick-up, to help keep traffic moving.

For the safety of all staff and students, all doors remain locked during the day. Please access the school by coming to the main office door and buzzing in. If you ask to “sneak in” through another door during drop-off or pick-up time, staff will gently redirect you to the main office door.

Please note some important information regarding:

  • Parking – designated areas only, not in staff parking lot, bus zone or hug and go
  • designated entry/exit doors for each grade: please see map above with grade doors
  • morning entry – bell rings at 9:05 for soft entry instruction begins at 9:10 am
  • Dismissal – dismissal is at 3:40 pm, students who take the bus will be directed to the front of the school and guided by the bus supervisors. If you are picking them up, please meet them at the bus
  • supervision – teachers will be on supervision at 8:55 am

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe.

Save the Date

On Thursday, September 25, 2025 we will have our annual Open House/Welcome Back event after school to provide families the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn a bit more about the year ahead, tour the school and connect with other families after the summer break.  We will of course have the Council/Society Welcome Back Coffee on September 2 after entry (9:10am) so you can meet the new administration and our School Council.

School Communication

Families will receive communication through School Messenger from their child’s classroom teacher with information about the learning and classroom happenings. You will also receive the Principal’s Weekly Update through School Messenger and on our webpage. Please take the time to view the important information contained in both of these emails to stay up-to-date. Studies have proven for many decades that a parent’s engagement in their child’s learning and school experiences is a high indicator of academic success, so we are committed to doing our part to create that communication bridge for families.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school after entry (9:10); please do come introduce yourselves to us when you see us on the playground.

2025-26 school year...let's go!
