Estimadas familias,
As we reach our midyear check-in, we have shared with Council/Society the results of our progress toward our School Development Plan goals. We will continue this conversation and provide additional data at our next meeting on March 12, 2026.
Families will have access to their child’s report cards through the MyCBE Portal on February 24, 2026. Please note that EAL Benchmarks continue to be an ongoing assessment; this year, comments will appear only at Y1 (Year End). For Kindergarten, reporting will occur for Spanish Language Arts, English Language Arts, and Mathematics. This is a meaningful moment to celebrate accomplishments and set goals for the remainder of the school year. If you have any questions about the report card, we encourage you to connect directly with your child’s classroom teacher. Families of students with an IPP will also receive an invitation to review and sign their child’s plan.
We remain committed to creating safe, positive, inclusive, equitable, and welcoming learning and working environments that respond to the needs of our students and staff. We want to recognize the many positive actions our students take each day to support a healthy school environment and to care for one another. We also continue to emphasize that we all share responsibility in promoting healthy relationships and fostering positive social environments that prevent bullying in our schools, communities, and workplaces.
We ask for your continued support in ensuring safety during arrival and dismissal. Recently, we have observed unsafe behaviours from some drivers, including U-turns, crossing between cars, and parking in the bus zone. Please remember that our children learn from the examples we set. I want to thank the families who have brought concerns forward, as well as the students who report issues right away, if you see something, say something.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to our school community.
Atentamente,
Carmen Fandino

Pink Shirt Day is next week on Wednesday, February 25th!
Pink Shirt Day originated in Halifax, Nova Scotia, back in 2008, with two high school-aged students who saw a need to be kind while another student was not being treated with kindness and respect. That one act of compassion quickly spread beyond the school.
In 2008, British Columbia’s provincial government proclaimed a provincial Anti-Bullying Day in February, and over time, the idea of wearing pink to stand against bullying spread throughout Canada and then internationally. Today, Pink Shirt Day is observed annually in Canada on the last Wednesday of February.
Pink Shirt Day is now a national and global movement that encourages people of all ages to:
Wear pink as a visible symbol of support for kindness, inclusion, and respect for others.
Raise awareness and start conversations about why bullying is harmful and what we can do to prevent it.
Raise funds for programs that help children and youth build healthy self-esteem, resilience, and safe environments.
We recognize Pink Shirt Day every year to honour a grassroots act of kindness and to reaffirm our shared commitment to reducing bullying and creating welcoming, caring, safe and respectful spaces for everyone.
Promoting inclusion is something that occurs in our schools every day.

Fun Lunches
Fun lunches are offered throughout the year to students who wish to participate. We receive our lunches through Healthy Hunger, an online platform that delivers pre-ordered lunches to the school, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the school.
On the day of the event, lunches are sorted and delivered to your child’s classroom by parent volunteers. If you would like to participate, please register your child at www.healthyhunger.ca. Lunches must be ordered prior to midnight, 5 days before the fun lunch event.
We kindly ask that if your child is absent the day of the fun lunch, please contact the school before 10:30 am, if you wish to pick it up the same day, after 1:30 pm. If not specified, your food will be donated to someone in need of lunch. No refunds will be issued if your child is absent on the day of a Fun Lunch.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to parent support at www.healthyhunger.ca or email ecsfunlunch@gmail.com .
