Estimada Comunidad de Eugene Coste School,

Our students have been actively engaged in their swimming lessons, building confidence, safety awareness, and essential water skills. It has been wonderful to see their perseverance and growing independence in the pool. A huge shout-out to our parent volunteers who made this happen and to Calgary Public Transit for ensuring we made it to the pool on time. This was a great experience for our students, and many wish we could have a pool at school.

In the classroom, many great learning experiences are had, including math land-based learning. We continue to carry forward the rich learning from our storytelling focus as well as our leadership students preparing for carnaval. Students are deepening their ability to communicate ideas, sequence events, and express themselves creatively in both oral and written forms. This ongoing work strengthens not only literacy skills but also confidence as communicators.

In mathematics, we are maintaining a strong focus on our “look-fors”, including clear problem-solving strategies, explaining thinking, and making connections between concepts. Students are being encouraged to show their reasoning and use multiple approaches, helping to build a deeper and more flexible understanding of math. It is fabulous to witness students strengthening their Spanish skills in math and seeing teachers explicitly using high-impact strategies in their classrooms.

We are proud of the growth we are seeing across these areas and look forward to continuing this momentum in the weeks ahead.

May 15, 2026, will be an important PD day as we do our class lists and planning for next year. Please note at CBE, we do not take class requests; the process for making class lists is arduous, as there are criteria and knowledge of student learning and social-emotional needs that are factored into our planning. We trust that you have had conversations with teachers that help us provide wrap-around services in the best interest of your child.

Con gratitud,

Carmen

If your student will be absent from school for a period greater than two weeks please contact the office, satoy@cbe.ab.ca to complete the ‘Extended Absence Form’.  This is a CBE requirement.

REPORT CARDS

After May 29, 2026, all Semester 1 report cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading and/or printing.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBEto view student information, including report cards, comments from your child's teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For the best access to information, log in through the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Report cards summarize and communicate student achievement at a point in time. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.

 Fun Lunches

Fun lunches are offered throughout the year to students who wish to participate. We receive our lunches through Healthy Hunger, an online platform that delivers pre-ordered lunches to the school in which a portion of the proceeds goes to the school.

On the day of the event, lunches are sorted and delivered to your child’s classroom by parent volunteers. If you would like to participate, please register your child at www.healthyhunger.ca . Lunches must be ordered prior to midnight, 5 days before the fun lunch event.

We kindly ask that if your child is absent the day of the fun lunch, please contact the school prior to 10:30am, if you wish to pick it up the same day, after 1:30pm. If not specified, your food will be donated to someone in need of lunch. No refunds will be issued if your child is absent on the day of a Fun Lunch.

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to parent support at www.healthyhunger.ca or email ecsfunlunch@gmail.com .
