¡Mayo ya llegó! May has arrived!

I just love watching the spring season blossom around us. The greening of trees and grass, the arrival of migratory birds and warmth of the sun provides a feeling of rejuvenation and hope! Welcome spring! With the weather improvements, our teachers and students are increasing their time outside. Our grade 1’s have enjoyed several community walking trips in order to explore the question: "Is Haysboro a good home for birds?". Our grade 5’s recently took a longer walk to Escuela Robert Warren to participate in their Feria de Ciencias (Science Fair), grade 2’s welcomed Laura, a local expert gardener and parent volunteer to learn about planting. Thank you for the gift of self-seeding and resilient pansies that will add colour to our front garden bed for years to come. Individual classes and buddies across K-5 are returning to favourite sit spots and documenting the changes of the season. Students in grade 4 are looking at the text “Mii maanda ezhi-gkendmaanh / This Is How I Know” to deepen their thinking around indigenous perspectives and seasonal changes in both Spanish and English ….Yo sé que es primavera.

It truly thrills me to witness how our caring and talented teachers are guiding students to be careful observers of the world around them. This deepens their relationship with their community and with each other, building empathy, critical thinking and curiosity!

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our School Council and EC Enrichment Society teams.

School Council has worked tirelessly to build community and connect our families with each other and promote the work of our school with you. Our EC Enrichment Society fundraises and grants us the dollars that help us to bring exceptional learning opportunities to your children. None of this is possible without the dedication of our parent community.

Last night we were provided with funding to support the following residencies for the next school year. Look at these dollar amounts!
