Estimada Comunidad de Eugene Coste School,

Even though it was a short week, our students filled it with curiosity, energy, and joyful learning. Thank you to Minds in Motion for engaging our grade 4/5 students in coding, to Telus Spark for our grade two field experience and to all the classrooms that were buzzing with hands‑on activities, creative problem‑solving, and plenty of moments that reminded us how quickly students grow when they’re engaged and excited.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteers. Your time, care, and presence make a tremendous difference in our school community. It was a pleasure celebrating you at our Volunteer Tea, and we are grateful for everything you do.

Looking ahead, our grade one and two students will be participating in swimming lessons this upcoming week. This is always a highlight for students, an opportunity to build confidence, learn important safety skills, and have fun in the water. Please ensure students come prepared with their swim gear on their scheduled days.

On June 5, we look forward to meeting our new Kindergarten and Grade One students for an orientation. You can expect an email next week with the invite details.

As we prepare for next year, we thank our community for engaging in the many surveys, including this week’s OurSchool Well-Being Student Survey. The results of this survey will help us recognize areas of strength and identify opportunities for growth to ensure all students feel safe, welcome, supported, and cared for at school.

We are happy to welcome Srta. Ashley, who will be teaching Ms. Wolf’s Kindergarten class. She is a recent graduate from the University of Calgary, has been a guest teacher at Eugene Coste School and has been welcomed by students and staff alike.

Our lost and found is overflowing!  Please ensure you ask your child to take all their items home. We are having to manage a large amount of clothing despite teacher reminders.

Enjoy your weekend!

Con gratitud,

Carmen

                                                                     TRANSPORTATION

Yellow School Bus Registration is Now Open for 2026-

Families can now apply for the yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. To ensure service is in place for the first day of classes, registrations must be received by Sunday, June 14.

Registrations submitted after this date will be accepted; however, access to bus routes may be delayed. Of note:

Confirmed bus routes will be posted for families who registered by the late August deadline in MyCBE.

The transportation fee has increased from $360 to $500/rider and from $180 to $250 for one-way kindergarten riders.

For several years, CBE was able to limit fee increases by using surplus funds to help offset rising costs. These funds were generated by delaying  the implementation of shorter transportation-eligibility distances by two years.  However, those surplus funds are now nearly exhausted.

At the same time, transportation costs have continued to rise, driven by factors such as increased fuel prices and the need for specialized support. As a result, a fee increase is necessary to balance the budget and maintain current service levels for students.

We remain committed to supporting families. Fee waivers and supports will be available to ensure students continue to access the transportation services they need.

Families can cancel without financial impact by submitting a cancellation form by Sept. 30.

REPORT CARDS

After May 29, 2026, all Semester 1 reports cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading and/or printing.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE  to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child's teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For the best access to information, log in through the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Report cards summarize and communicate student achievement at a point in time. In addition to the report card, schools communicate with parents/guardians about student progress on an ongoing basis in a variety of ways.
