Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
We had a wonderful week at Eugene Coste School!
It has been a pleasure to see our students engaged in their learning, supporting one another, and contributing positively to our school community.
Community Helpers Learning
Our Kindergarten students recently welcomed Community Safety Advisor Todd, who helped them learn about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.
Students explored how firefighters respond to emergencies, help people in need, and work together to protect our neighbourhoods.
This learning supports the Kindergarten Curriculum by helping students develop an understanding of community, belonging, and the roles and responsibilities of people who contribute to the well-being and safety of others.
We are grateful to Constable Todd for sharing his knowledge and helping our youngest learners make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and the world around them.
Remembrance Day Ceremony | November 10
Our Grade 4 students will be hosting this year's Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:30 AM.
As with all of our assemblies, families of students in the hosting grade are warmly invited to attend.
We look forward to gathering as a school community to reflect, remember, and honour those who have served.
Parent-Teacher Conferences | November 26–27
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27.
Families can expect to receive conference booking information next week.
These conferences provide an important opportunity to celebrate student successes and discuss next steps in learning.
Successful Fire Drill
This week, we conducted a successful fire drill.
Students and staff demonstrated excellent attention to safety procedures and evacuated the building efficiently.
We are proud of how seriously our students take these important safety practices.
Minds in Motion Visits Grade 3
Our Grade 3 students had an exciting opportunity to work with the Minds in Motion team on programming and computational thinking activities.
Students were highly engaged and enjoyed applying their problem-solving skills through hands-on learning experiences.
Door Replacement Project
Beginning next week, the school will be receiving a new exterior door on the west side of the building.
During the installation period, our Grade 4 and 5 students will be using their alternate entrance.
We appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility while this important improvement is completed.
Parking Lot Safety Reminder
To help ensure student safety during arrival and dismissal times, we kindly remind families not to use the staff parking lot for student drop-off or pick-up.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for all members of our school community.
Indigenous Drumming Residency
We are looking forward to welcoming Indigenous drumming sessions to our school in the coming weeks.
Organized by our music teacher, these learning opportunities will help students deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and ways of knowing.
Fall Break Reminder | November 11–15
A reminder that Fall Break will take place from Wednesday, November 11, through Sunday, November 15.
We hope all our students and families enjoy this time to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together.
Classes will resume on Monday, November 16.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We wish all our families a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Carmen Fandino, Escuela Eugene Coste School
