Estimadas familias,

Although this week was brief, we deeply felt your appreciation, which reflects the strong sense of community at our school. We thank everyone who participated in last week’s Remembrance Day assembly and commend our Grade 4/5 students for their efforts in supporting the Veterans’ Food Bank collection through their announcements and presentations of historical facts from WWI and WWII. We are proud to share that their efforts, along with those of all students, resulted in three large boxes of food donations, which will be collected by the Veterans’ Food Bank.

School Conferences will proceed as originally scheduled: November 27 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and November 28 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The School Conference Manager system will open for families to book a 15-minute conference with their child’s teacher beginning on November 20 at 4:30 pm via your MyCBE portal.

We kindly ask for your assistance with the lost and found, which is once again full despite being emptied during the strike. We encourage you to visit the lost and found during your scheduled conference to collect any remaining items. The next donation of unclaimed items will take place before the winter break.

Eugene Coste School is committed to supporting all learners. This week, we welcomed student teachers from the University of Calgary—including Ms. Tivadar, Ms. Ryan, and Mr. Johnson. We extend our gratitude to our mentor teachers for guiding the next generation of educators.  Our Spanish Committee will begin our Spanish Immersion Week on Monday, students will have an opportunity to practice their oral skills, develop general knowledge of the Spanish speaking countries around the world and share their insights.

This year, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will use SchoolEngage to complete some necessary annual forms. To access SchoolEngage, a MyCBE account is required. If you do not have one, please visit the MyCBE page and select "Create a MyCBE Account." For assistance, refer to the guide and video available at MyCBE - Creating an Account. The forms available in SchoolEngage include the Demographic Verification for 2025-26 and the Annual Authorization for 2025-26. If you are interested in volunteering this school year, you may also complete the Volunteer Registration Form.

Please be advised that we have rescheduled our School Photo Day to December 4, 2025.

As part of our Spanish Language and Culture learning and Physical Education Programs, and thanks to our School Council and Enhancement Society, we will have Havana Social Dance Studio in residence beginning at the end of the month. We look forward to sharing the learning with you once we have completed the residency.

This week, staff members have been focused on refining our School Development Plan, including setting goals and measures. We will share this information at the next School Council meeting and welcome your feedback on November 20, 2025. Additionally, next week is National Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. Our ongoing initiatives aim to create welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful environments, equipping students with tools through literature, drama, announcements, and awareness activities. We encourage families to engage in conversations that promote positive interactions and foster these values at home as well.

Fun lunches are offered throughout the year to students who wish to participate.  We receive our lunches through Healthy Hunger, an online platform that delivers pre-ordered lunches to the school in which a portion of the proceeds goes to the school.

On the day of the event, lunches are sorted and delivered to your child’s classroom by parent volunteers.  If you would like to participate, please register your child at www.healthyhunger.ca . Lunches must be ordered prior to midnight, 5 days before the fun lunch event.
