Queridas Familias,

As we move further into the fall season, I continue to be inspired by the learning, leadership, and sense of community demonstrated by our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping make Eugene Coste School a vibrant place to learn and grow.

Building a Greener Future Together

At Eugene Coste School, we are excited to be working toward becoming an EcoSchool! Our Grade 4 team’s From Trash to Treasure project has been a wonderful reminder of the importance of recycling, reducing, and reusing as part of our daily habits.

Through projects like these, students are learning that small actions can make a big difference for our community and our environment. Our goal is to support the development of engaged citizens who understand their responsibility in contributing to a socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable society.

Together, we are building the knowledge, skills, and habits needed to become leaders in sustainable practices.

We congratulate our Pack In, Pack Out students, who have been purposeful in ensuring they contribute to our EcoSchool efforts at Eugene Coste School. They demonstrate environmental responsibility and leadership!

ECS Council/Enrichment Society – ¡Gracias!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the ECS Council/Enrichment Society for the wonderful staff swag we received. Thanks to their generosity, every staff member now has school spirit wear to proudly represent Eugene Coste School during our spirit days.

We also have a new reveal to showcase, so be sure to wear your ECS swag this Friday!

In addition to supporting school spirit, our Council’s fundraising efforts continue to enrich learning opportunities for our students. Their dedication helps make incredible experiences possible, including our upcoming artist residency with Heather Rozell.

Heather recently met with our teaching staff to begin planning exciting projects that will engage students in creative and meaningful ways. We look forward to sharing the results of this residency with our school community in the weeks ahead.

Save the Date: ¡Qué Pasa! Spanish Bilingual Celebration of Learning

Our Grade 3 team is already planning for our annual ¡Qué Pasa! Spanish Bilingual Celebration.

This special event provides students with an opportunity to showcase their learning, celebrate their bilingual journey, and share their accomplishments with our school community.

Please save the date for May 11, 2027. We are excited to see the creativity, learning, and enthusiasm our students will bring to this celebration. Additional details and event information will be shared with families in the new year.

Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Assessments

The Alberta Education literacy and numeracy assessment results will be sent home with students next week.

  • October 26: Results for students in Grades 1–3 will be sent home. Please check your child’s backpack for this important information.
  • Grades 4–5: Assessment results will be shared as soon as they become available.

Teachers will have opportunities to discuss your child’s results in greater detail as our intervention program with Sra. Primak gets underway.

These conversations will help families better understand their child’s current strengths, areas for growth, and the supports that will be provided to ensure continued success in learning.

Halloween Reminders

Halloween is just around the corner! As a reminder, our school follows CBE nutrition guidelines. Therefore, candy, treats, and other food items may not be distributed at school.

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain healthy school environments for all students.

Students are welcome to participate in a Costume Parade on Friday, October 30. We encourage creativity and fun while ensuring costumes remain appropriate for a school setting.

Please ensure costumes are:

  • Respectful and inclusive of all cultures, identities, and beliefs.
  • Free of masks that cover the face.
  • Free of weapons or weapon replicas.
  • Free of violent, graphic, or gory themes.

We look forward to seeing our students showcase their creativity and school spirit!

Thank You, Families!

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to student success. Together, we are creating meaningful learning experiences, fostering leadership, and building a strong and caring school community.

Disfruten del fin de semana, nos vemos el lunes.

Con aprecio,

Free Online Well-Being Sessions for Families and Caregivers

Parents and guardians are invited to participate in a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being.

Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, these sessions are designed to equip families with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today.

For more information, visit the Child and Youth Well-Being Family and Caregiver Series.

School Council and Enrichment Society

We are sharing two sign-up links: one for the School Council and another for the Enrichment Society.

These forms will help us gather a list of interested parents who wish to become more directly involved in our school community, whether by becoming members, volunteering at events, or helping with fundraising activities.

Thank you for considering how you can contribute to our school community. We look forward to hearing from you!
