Estimadas familias,

What a powerful and meaningful week it has been at Escuela Eugene Coste. Our school community came together to honour Orange Shirt Day, a day of reflection and learning that reminds us that Every Child Matters. This year’s observance felt especially significant as we marked 10 years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) calls to Action, a milestone that deepens our collective commitment to reconciliation, justice, and healing.

Throughout the week, students engaged in thoughtful learning about belonging and what it means to feel seen, safe, and valued in a community. Students asked important questions, listened to Indigenous voices, and reflected on their role in creating a more inclusive and caring world. On Wednesday, our school was a sea of orange, filled with powerful messages of support, solidarity, and wellness. We are so proud of the way our grade 4/5 students chose to lead the work embracing empathy, curiosity and respect.

Students recognize that reconciliation is not a one-day event but a journey – one that requires listening, learning, and taking action.  Thank you families, for the conversations you are continuing at home and for supporting this our learning community.

We are also thankful for everyone who joined us for our Open House Event. It was a joy to welcome you in to meet your child’s teacher, see the classroom and our common learning spaces and meet our School Council and Enrichment Society. Our community makes a big difference in our learning experiences; experiencias que nos ayuda a abrir nuestra mente y corazón al aprendizaje!

Thank you for walking this learning path with us.
